What? No comments? I like this interview you covered and published here on your blog. I think I failed to mention I also endear your photography. Not only is your eloquence in spoken word powerful but your images bring clarity and focus to the translucence. The background becomes the main focus, the details progress into art, and the mundane is uniquely captured and transformed into the sublime. You're always quoting a writer, a philosopher, or a lyricist, so I wanted to leave you with a song verse : "I'm wide awake, yea, I was in the dark, and now it's clear to me that everything you see, is not what it seems, I'm wide awake, Yea I was dreaming for so long, I am born again, out of the lion's den, I'm wide awake." ~ Katy Perry. Ridiculous, I know, I just quoted a pop singer, and the song is sorta my interpretation. ;) But it's 2:25 am, I just went through your whole blog, left you quotes, and the song came on, on my MTV videos. Wanted to share something of me, with you. :D The song reminds me of your pictures, because everything you see is not what it seems, rather your pictures make me feel like I'm wide awake. Take care my friend. And until next time we meet. :D

You're so clever. I always walk by those people and try not to make eye contact, or be accosted by their ploys or sales tactics. However, I can imagine seeing you on 42nd, and wondering what an Asian guy, with a shaved head, wearing a North Face vest, and white vneck - khaki pants, is doing? I might stopped for you, kekekee... O_o Where are those baggy jeans you speak of? I still remember your first outfit, when I met you : Pink Ralph Lauren Polo, plaid shorts, and those cool Ray-bannish yet nondescript black shades with neon yellow legs. i was like, this boise has mad style. Who knew that such thoughts sprung forth from within your stylish appearance? Didn't know man, but I'm in so awe right now. Thanks for being you, Drew! :D

I remember you talking about the useless playground at Balboa Island. kekekee. You definitely don't need a gym membership. I wouldn't say that to everyone, but for you, I think it suffices. You do less of consumption and materialism, and more of fruitful thought and action. As I would like to say, less of me, and more of you God. I understand now, why you like eating hot, steaming dumpling. I would too, after eating p&J sandwiches. Glad you got to eat a warm meal at the shelter. I'm glad you stayed out of the cold too and I hope you played some fun games, whatever you ended up doing, meeting interesting folks. :D

Hahahaa...what your friend Dave said is pretty funny. I remember you saying to me to lighten up. ;) I think wherever we travel we carry our id ego with us everywhere, so no matter where we sojourn, we may change from experiences, we may become a more enlightened version of ourselves, but at the same time, we also in a way remain the same, bc we are who we are. It does sounds like from this trip that you did become a transformed person and was able to share your enlightenment with us, but I also love how you remained who you are, who you were as a child, who you were before you decided to take this trip, and who you are today, as of 2012. You will always stand up for what you believe, you will fight for freedom and the things that carve out your character so that our future generations can be impacted, and you will push forth the boundaries of our minds, morality, and ideologies that sustain and create us.

What breaks God's heart should break our hearts. We need to care for the orphans, the widows, the homeless, etc. What breaks your heart breaks mine, in a redemptive way. Thank you for transforming our minds by illuminating the plight of an epidemic that happens, even in our wealthy country. We may walk by that homeless guy at the market and not know his story. You are a lumineer- bringing forth light out darkness and dark recesses of our minds. From a human's mind is depravity, but we need to always strive for caring for our neighbor, loving ourselves better, and making this world a better place than we found it. I can't believe your car got so totaled. I'm glad you are safe, and that the Honda protected you. I also think God was a part of that. ^^

I love how you draw analogies between foreign notions, i.e. marriage and companions. You have an artist's mind: the ability to draw out the ugliness of humans, or the beauty that needs refinement, and created and invented from raw materials into unbelievable beauty that takes your breathe away, the kind of beauty that the mind can take mental snapshots of to treasure and bring out into the consciousness when needing reminder of inspiration, and beauty that can be appreciated. I know that was a long run-on. It makes me happy to hear that Steve met your father and to know your father was sharing about you. I know if I was your father, I'd be so proud of you. Your authenticity, lack of artifice and superficiality, and genuineness just shines through your speech and thought (translated into wisdoms of life). Salut and Ciao...is what I remember about you. Those are the details, but I also remember the bigger picture of your persona, of how just like Thoreau, "you built a stairway to the castle in the sky." Like the Egyptians creating a pyramid in the desert, like Steve Jobs studying calligraphy and then using it in his apple creations, like the pioneers (kekekee...remember your Columbus reference) who discovered and traveled lands, you brought the stars closer to our reach. Continue to fight the good fight!

Aww...Andrew, u look so cute with hair. However, I get it. The transformation that outwardly expresses what is going on internally and within your soul. I'm glad it gave you protection and that you didn't have to get a Rambo knife. I'm so happy that Valerie was praying for you, because although I did not know you back then, I am praying for you today. Your passion for life, (to feel alive and rather than remain status quo to free your mind of typical conventions of a typical 9-5 desk job life), and compassion for people (from the homeless to the graffiti artists to the random hitch hikers you picked up on your sojourn), and the way you perceive beauty, for (beauty is in the eye of the beholder) is a precious quality that I hope will remain eternally. For you bring beauty to the forefront, to the passerbys of life, whom merely drift aimlessly with no zeal, no sense of purpose, confined and chained to the realities of life and their comfortable existence...But you my dear, you bring culture, art, perspective, and things indiscernible to the naked eye that sees but does not really see, to the consciousness of those not truly living life. You are a visionary and I am thankful that you have shared this with me, and shared with me your stories. They are priceless, and from knowing you I have been forever changed. Your transcendence has elevated the mundane to the sublime. I wish I could've seen you on Fox news, but alas, I was in NY at the time, and in my own hell. :) Take care my friend. And grow your hair out please. hehehe..jk.

Hey, I'd really like to know more about this experience. It sounds like a wonderful idea (I'm currently looking for ways like this to make money on the road), and I calculated that I'd probably make $40,000 per year very easily, covering all my necessary expenses and getting a profit on my initial investment super quick.

I have some questions, of course:

-How much was your photo printer/what was the brand?

-How much does ink and paper cost? (I assume you were using high grade)

-What do you mean by "portable battery"?

-Did some people seem to turn away because you had a small/non-professional camera?

If you find the time I'd love to hear back from you. You're next to Tyler Durden on my inspiration list right now.
